Tuesday, January 21, 2003

CHAMPIONSHIP RETURNS TO SPACECITY, USA FOR FIRST TIME IN 30 YEARS

The Super Bowl returns to Houston for the first time in 30 years on February 1, 2004. Today, the logo which will be associated with that game was unveiled by the NFL. The logo blends a futuristic oval shape representing Houston's bright future with space for everyone and a bold western-style typeface indicative of the city's rich southwestern heritage. The Super Bowl XXXVIII logo was developed by the NFL Creative Services design team and designed by Todd Radom, a graphic designer based in Katonah, New York. Super Bowl XXXVIII will be played February 1, 2004 at Reliant Stadium — the first NFL championship game to be played in a retractable-roof facility. The 2004 NFL championship game is the second Super Bowl to be played in Houston. The first — Super Bowl VIII — was played on January 13, 1974 at Rice Stadium.
