Jackie Robinson broke baseball's color barrier in 1947. The official mark commemorating the 50th Anniversary of this American milestone needed to reflect the dignity of Robinson in a very personal way, hence the use of his signature. The logo was worn as a sleeve patch by all Major League teams in 1997 and was featured on a United States silver dollar coin.
